Starbuck's FreePlayer – MPlayer-based Media Player
MPlayer is my all-time favorite media player. That’s because it is free, it plays any format you can think of, it is quite easy to use, and it never fails to impress me with all the nice features it has to offer. Starbuck's FreePlayer is based on the aforementioned MPlayer. It is an MPlayer-based media player that works on multiple platforms and is free and open source.
As mentioned above, Starbuck's FreePlayer works on multiple platforms. It works with Microsoft’s Windows operating system and it also works with Apple’s Mac OS X. At the time of writing this, a Linux version has yet to be released to the public.
The Starbuck's FreePlayer interface is just what you would expect from an application of this type: the main panel at the top plays the video you selected; the panel at the bottom presents playback controls and volume controls; at the top there’s a traditional file menu that you can use to access various features and functions. So overall, a simple enough interface that you will very quickly figure out.
Since it is based on MPlayer, the media player that plays everything, it’s no wonder that Starbuck's FreePlayer can be used to play audio files, various types of video formats, DVDs or Blu-ray discs, ISOs, folders, files from the network, or network streaming URLs. You can use Starbuck's FreePlayer to play any media file on your PC, on the network, or online.
Starbuck's FreePlayer is free and open source. This means that you can use it for free for as long as you want and, if you want to, you can get the source code and play around with it.
Play any media file you want with the free and open source Starbuck's FreePlayer.
Pros
Starbuck's FreePlayer is available for Windows and Mac OS X; a Linux version is in the works. The interface is very simple. Starbuck's FreePlayer can play all sorts of media: audio files, videos, DVDs, ISOs, Blu-ray discs, and so on. Starbuck's FreePlayer is free and open source.
Cons
None that I could think of.
